Just removed the floor out of my Stratos 201 Pro and the foam is full of water!!! Is there any way to let the foam dry or should I remove all the foam and refill the boat with new foam. If I have to refill the boat with foam what kind should I use and whats the price? Thanks.
i just did mine. uscomposites.com has the foam you need and all the resin and cloth, you want the 2lb foam. you need two kits. what year is your boat, mines 93. i check these boards daily i can help you through it. it takes alot of time and money to do this right. did you open the stringers? they will be wet also. and those boxes in the back corners. i ordered two sheets of 1/2" marine plywood from menards
My boat is a 89. The stringers are fine they are glassed all the way around. I just need to find out if there is a way to dry the foam out. Some spots are not completey wet only about an inch through is wet. In other spots its wet deeper down. I will look at the website and see but I really want to know if there is a way to dry the foam out.
i guess you could put some dehumidifiers in it and let it siy indoors, when i started digging into mine i found alot moe water it was pouring out of spots. most of mine was down sitting right on the hull, those big boxes in the back had quarts of water in them . is your top off?
I pulled all the floor out. I am down to the stringers and foam if that is what you mean by top. The box by the drain that is in front of the drain hole I cut about 6 inches deep and the foam was dry at the bottom.
wow, i am rippin the floor out of at 94 201xl too, not taking the cap off, too much trouble, but the foam is full of water...

I do not have the time, money, or means to do that with. I can't split the boat in half but I don't have the water pooling up in my boat like you have. My foam is wet but not as bad as yours.
yeah mines pretty bad. open it up and let it sit ouside that might do the trick
Thats what I am doing and I also have a fan blowing more air into the boat. When the boat os covered I am going to use a fan and a dehumidifier to collect the water from the air.
You can dry the foam out but the real question is how did the foam get wet in the first place and what is going to prevent it from getting soaked again?

The foam got wet because the man I bought the boat from put a fishing seat in the middle of the floor for his son and didn't seal the seat platform he put in the floor so over time it just let water sep into the floor and eventually soak all the foam.
Can you post picture of the areas in question? If the water was concetrated in one area (between two stringers) than you might get lucky and water was contained in those areas. Here are the issues i think you will face. if the water only was between two stringers than you can remove the foam between them. If the foam was heavily soaked than it is possible the water seeped from the stringers to other areas adjacent to that area. I know from my own personal rebuild on my 90 javelin 396xfd that the foam soaked from the battery area and worked it's way forward to front of bow. The foam was soaked and i removed all of it. Between the wet foam and mold it had penetrated the polyester resin that held the stringer to the hull of boat. t had become dry and had delaminated from the stringer/hull. Cost wise for an average boat is about $250 for the foam. US Composites. It is not impossible to do as long as you have mechanical aptitude. Your in Garner, Nc. Ok I will post pics soon are figure out how to upload them. The foam in one area is soaked but I checked several areas and the foam is only wet about an inch into the foam. So I think the foam in most parts will be fine if I can just get it to dry out. I think that I will only have to re-foam one or two areas.
Mine had little moisture near surface and once i ran the pry bar down to the bottom of hull i saw moisture on it.,
Yeah that's what I found out when I was removing foam.
