Ranger 89' 374V restore

Here's pics of the boat stripped down, notice the heavy damage of the front cap. This is what provoked the project. My trolling motor would not stay anchored well due to the water damage underneath. The cap was severely weak.

Why don't you keep all your posts in the same thread? Easier to follow that way!

Good deal! Look forward to seeing the finished product. I have a 375V that I did a few years ago.

Well gentlemen,
Here are some lessons learned on fitting for the recessed trolling motor foot pedal.

1) I actually put in my butt seat, sat down and got comfortable and put my foot where it naturally would be at rest. Then traced my foot outline on the deck. Why not put your foot pedal where your foot would rest naturally.? Speaks comfort to me.

2)Found out the hard way that my recessed tray was a little too large for a 374V. Ended up having to cut into the front storage box a little ways. It shouldn't be that big of problem were just going to build the box up around it with some fiberglass and seal it back in. (Just a note for anyone else planning to do this, watch out for that front storage box).

3)While your in there might as well check for any water damage. I had alot of water soaked foam, due to another issue I will address later.

Here's pics:

More pics to come of the final cut out.

[IMG]http://i1167.photobucket.com/albums/q625/troutgnat/100_0391.jpg*This was the original cut-out after tracing the lay-out.
*This is the kind of water damage we found which prompted more cutting out of the front deck.
*Notice the heavy water damage. We ended up taking out the majority of the front deck.
*You can see here where we had to cut into the front storage box about 4" to make the recess foot pedal tray fit.
*This doesn't show it real well but there is only about 2" of room front the front of that recessed tray to the bow, couldn't move it forward much more so had to go into the front of the storage box a bit.

This seems to help calm the nerves after cutting that big of a hole in the boat........Nothing like eating crappie and fries(and drinking beer) while working on the boat that just caught em a couple months ago.......LOL!

I think even if you had the recessed tray all the way to the front you still would have cut into the storage. Actually I believe it's a livewell.

That is correct darral. Actually this is just a storage box as both of my livewells are on the back deck right behind the seats.
