how much gel do i need
I was needing an idea of how much gelcoat to order. I have a 97 triton tr-21 I am preparing to shoot. Going to do entire boat solid color except for the triton stripe. I will do it black base with flake clear over top. So I will need white, neutral and clear gel. Can someone get me in the ballpark? I will need some extra cause I plan on shooting a go cart body before the boat. I wont mind having a quart or half gallon or so of each left over. I just don't want to order way to much.
Thanks for help,

You have to measure the hull and get the square footage of the area you want to gelcoat.
One gallon @ 30 mils thickness generally does around + or - 45 Sq. Feet depending on how you spray.
You want to get it to around 25 - 30 mills thick to allow for sanding/buffing/polishing the final coat.
This will leave around 20 - 25 mills , enough to last thru years of polishing. You don't want to get the gel too thick, anything thicker than 25 mills can end up spider webbing after some rough water use.
