    Gel coat chip

I have a spot on my Ranger where the old trolling motor bracket made about a quarter sized chip in the gel. It is poly flake and just reached glass. I had been covering it with duct tape and because its under the current trolling motor when its out of water, all has been fine. Now I want to fix it and was wondering exactly how. I know you can't sand poly flake, so should I just give up and use solid gel? I have done plain gel before and it has always turned out perfectly. Thanks

Repair the same as solid gel. Use clear gel and matching poly flakes.

Depending on how the flake pattern is and how solid the flakes are you can mix them with the clear and repair, then lay a layer of clear over.

or if the flake is a real heavy ,almost solid flake pattern, lay some clear in, pat the flakes on dry to match the pattern and cover with clear to finish.

Hobby and Craft shops have most of the polyflakes to match.

    Minicraft has some also.
