I am restoring a 93 stratos 201 proxl and i have a notion to totaly re-finish the entire boat. its it grey hull , silver flake top cap with dark blue flake sides and a light blue flake pinstripe. i have accumulated a ton of knowledge from this forum. I am having trouble with the gelcoat/wax additive deal. are the base coats without the wax tacky, if so how do you tape off areas to do different colors? i have a auto-body man to do the spraying, i will do all the prep and mixing of the components. the boat is in a heated shop, cap off. i have the resources and the drive to get this done, i plan on flipping the hull and shooting it with black first . then put it back together and prep the top cap and sides of the hull to the chine. i want to keep the original lines and change the color to a dark copper cap and tanish gold flake stripes. i need help with the steps or more the order of which sides to shoot first and do you flake the whole boat with the same flake? can you tape off the different parts like you would a car?
