    adding color pigment to resin

I need to order some more resin in a few days and was thinking of also ordering some of this resin pigment http://www.uscomposites.com/pigments.html
Was thinking of coloring the final layer of glass. Or maybe painting the bilge area with colored resin. Does this pigment have any negative effects on the resin's strength or water proofing? Or would I be better off using somethin else like bilge paint or gel coat? Not trying to make it real glossy or smooth just would like it to be all one color when its done.

You could color the resin but it will be transparent to a certain degree and will not cover good unless you use a lot of pigment.......does not effect water proof or such. I use neutral colored gel coat and just pigment it gray or whatever color you want. Waterproof and looks and covers good. Cant go wrong with US Composites....been ordering and using their stuff for many years.** Be sure to use waxing agent on last coat or it will be tacky**,,,,,,

Thankyou for your help, looks like the gelcoat will be what I'll go with...Would putting it on with a brush turn out ok for the bilge area? I have a cheapo automotive type sprayer I could try but I'm guessing having to clean the gel out of the cup every refill would be a pain.

I use the gel coat color tubes (your choice) and add a few drops when I mix it up. I used white mixed in for a section of flooring I did and it came out fine. Did the same when I hade to lay up some glass in the bilge. You can always mix it up neutral and then buy a quart of bilge coat paint in white or gray and paint the bilge.
