    fiberglass air pockets

my first 2 layers of glass and tabbing went on great with no air pockets. I then took a little break to cut out some more peices and let the first two layers cure since I intended on adding two more layers and four layers at once seemed like a bad idea. The last layer was a little tacky but hard when I laid the next two layers. The only problem was a few tiny wild strands on the cured glass made tiny air pockets under my last two layers. Is this acceptable? I know the goal is to have no air pockets at all anywhere but not sure that is even possible. The original glass on the boat has air pockets big enough to put your finger in. So basicly I'm asking if I should grind off the last two layers?

Not an expert here, but while I was doing my transom, any air pockets I found I grinded out then re glassed over the section. I wouldn't want to compromise the integrity of the glass or expedite any future delamination by leaving the bubble in the glass.

Again, this is coming from a super novice so wait till someone with experience chimes in before you do anything. I just did what I thought was right.

here's a better question. What do you do when you cant seem to roll out an air pocket? I tried cutting the pocket with a razor but didnt work very well.

What type of fiberglass are you putting down? Are you saturating it with enough resin? Is it transparent when you are trying to roll the bubbles out?

1708...main problem was little peices that were sticking up when I overlapped the next peice. Should have stopped after two layers and sanded. Also should have rounded top edge of transom a little, kept getting airpocket trying to fold peice over the top.

Yea you can't bend it around much and expect it to stay. I rounded the top of my transom quite a bit and still had issues. I would saturate it fully and whatever adheres good whatever dont grind away and go back over it.

pretty sure i was using enough resin because it was coming out from under the glass a little as I tried to roll out the air pocket
