Roving
I keep reading in some of these posts about using roving along with the fiberglass cloth or mat. I am working on my brothers boat trying to repair a hole in the side. I almost have everything sanded down and going to be able to repair from the inside. My question is
1. what is roving and do I need to use it on this repair? What does it do for the repair?
My brother is buying the cloth. I think it is 7.5 oz. Will I also need the matting?
Thanks
Gene

Re: Roving (bassfork)
Roven is a woven fiberglass heavy cloth........ the weave looks like a woven potholder almost, it gives a lot of strength to glass work.
Depending on how big the hole is, you may need some heavier cloth for the inside part.
Also called Woven Roving.

Re: Roving (BASSCAT7)
I started out with a couple of small cracks where the side of the hull turns toward the bottom, ( a rounded edge ). By the time I got through sanding, I ended up with a hole in the side of the boat about 3' by 8". It was old repair done by someone else. I am trying to do a better job. Do I need the roven and where can I get it.
Thanks,
Gene
