During my restoration, I'm going to be adding 2 or 3 storage compartments to the front deck (currently only have one). I don't want to use metal/plastic manufactured lids and I would like to carpet them and have them fit to the deck like a glove. What is the best method of fabricating deck lids? I know it would be simple to just cut out from the deck, shave off 1/4"-1/2" and install hinges, but I would like them to be water-resistant as well.
