    Popping the top

I am working on restoring my 79 Monark Mcfast. I have the top almost off but ran in to a small problem. It looks like before they put the halves together, they put expanding foam between the transom and the top cap. I have loosened it on top of the transom but the stern side of the splash well is still attached by the foam. It doesnt want to budge and I don't want to crack or break the fiberglass by prying on it. Is there any way to get it loose? I thought about cutting the cap right along the forward side of the top of the transom so I could pry the glass loose from the foam with a screwdriver but I don't want to do this unless I have to.

    Re: Popping the top (Fishhunt223)

I had to get an air hammer in there and chisel away the foam and they glassed the transom area heavily. I also used a cutting well to get through all the layers around the transom in order to remove the cap. It was a tough job but was it was free it popped right up.
