Help ! ETec 250 HO Rattle

My motor starts, and runs great in every respect. However, I do a have a very annoying metalic rattle when I'm under power. It sounds like a piece of thin metal being placed in a fan blade. Sounds crazy, I know but that's the sound. I've checked to see if anything was loose or a piece of metal ws clipping the flywheel but nothing. The noise sounds as if it is coming from the bottom of the pan. I don't have any issues getting the engine in gear either. I'm really baffled about this but I know somethings not quite right. I hope someone can help me out!

    Thanks

I am not a tech but we have seen a few motors here where the bolts snapped holding the mid-section onto the motor and the bolts laid there in the mid section covers rattlin' etc.

I had a vibration/rattlin noise once and it turned out to be a bad prop, was not balanced.

if you have installed a bob's machine jackplate give a good look
at the plate behind it . Sometimes it's loose and vibrates at some rpms,
doing this rattle like a pinion/gear broked. I've had to put a rubber
strip between the plate and jack

Have a tech take a look inside the flywheel or remove it for inspection. A couple of times I've seen the magnets come loose in them, of course they were heavily corroded saltwater motors that were on off-shore tournament boats, but they made a similar sound I understand.

Hey Quest 290 is the big winner here. The bracket on the bottom plate was separated from the bracket. The weld must have broke. Got a new bottom plate coming. Good Call !!!
