    "Under Paint" "Hull Paint" ???

Ok , I just bought my 86 Cajun. Not sure if at some point the boat was stored in the water or what. The bottom of the boat has been painted and I think it needs another coat. Whats on there now is chalky , and a few spots have pin holes in the paint finish. It just looks bad, and not that you can see the bottom except when its on the trailer. The boat is metallic grey on top, dark blue under that, grey under that , and old dry chalky blue on the bottom.

So I will never store the boat in water, and always be in fresh water. So is there a paint that will stand up to just that. Since it has a coat of paint on it already, do I have to spend big bucks on "under paint" or is there cheaper alternitive. I want to find a grey paint, so I can get rid of my blue and grey stripes running length wise!

Thats my story thanks for your time.

The only paints that will stand up to in water use on fiberglass are the 2 part urethane paints lime DuPont Imron and Interlux types.

They are not cheap and require a lot of prep work on the glass to get them right.

They can be rolled on using the " roll and tip " method if you do not have the spray booth and fresh air equipment necessary to spray it on.

You can also use the standard anti fouling paint used on in the water boats too.

Thanks! I have seen a few different companys, never saw Jamestown. I guess with there's just not alot of bassboats that have this problem... Or others just go about it different way?

    Thanks Again, Brandon
