metal hatch corrosion protection/paint

I am recarpeting my 1999 SS21 Stratos. The lids are all metal. Most of them are in good shape, and the glue is coming off the paint nicely. THere are others that are really corroded in spots. Mainly where the bolts for the hinges go through. Should I be priming these areas before i put new carpet on? If so what do you guys recommend using? thanks, KEN

clean um up and self etch prime them it will stop the corrosion
