    Carpet Kits/from your experiences....

    18'6" skeeter
Supposin I wasn't gonna buy a kit from bass cat. Where Else would you buy one from?
I'm kinda partial to the 20 oz kit i think
widest part of my boat is about 6'1" to the vinyl carpet strip
How wide/long of roll should I get so I can do the main areas and all deck lids.
Don't really like the price of the glue in the kits/anything cheaper? Better?
Can this same carpet be used for bunk material and fender well carpet?
    any and all info

Looked at a couple other places beside BC myself and got some samples that seemed to be pretty nice stuff from
    http://www.boatcarpetbuys.com/Scripts/default.asp

    there is also

    http://www.marinecarpeting.com/

that seems to be popular with a lot of people also

I used marinecarpeting.com...they may have the dimensions for your boat already...they have a Triton Tr21. I got it from them precut...and they mark the bottom of each piece so you can keep the grain flow the same. And if I ever do it again sometime, I'll use them again.

    this all sounds good.
but what size kit will I need for a boat my size.
looks like the widest spot of the boat is behind the seats and it's at 6'1" to the vinyl carpet strip.
and is there any other solution so I don't have to spend $100 on 3 gallons of glue???
I can't see my job using that much glue, plus I'm wondering if there is anything else out there that may work better than the glue they're trying to sell me...

You don't have to buy the carpet and glue together as a kit, it can be purchased seperately if you like.

As far as size you say the widest point is 6' 1" and rolls only come in 6' or 8' widths so I think you answered that question yourself

Now for length, don't buy a roll that just long enough to do the boat, a 25' foot roll leaves you with maybe 5-6 extra foot give or take, that's probably only enough to leave you room for one mistake in cutting/fitting it. I think you would be better off buying the 30' kit for more margin for error. That also leaves you with carpet from the same dye lot on hand in case at some time later you need to replace just a section later on.

Like you I wondered if they weren't a bit heavy on the amount of glue they recommend, so someone with more experience will chime in on that
