    Need advise on new project!

I've been throwing around the idea to restore my 1995 Astro 18-b or find another boat. Well, I've decided to restore it myself. However, I need some advise. I need to replace the floor and the transom. Since Astro is no longer in business and I cant order aftermarkert parts, do I build my transom and floor out of marine grade plywood or something else? Also, what is the best fiberglass cloth and resign do I get. I've done some fiberglass work before but nothing on a large scale like this. Any advise would be great!

I would say transom and stringers out of marine grade ply. Sub floors and cockpit floor can be regular exterior grade ply. Spend a little extra and check out this product(ROT DOCTOR CPES). It will help seal your wood and help the resins adhere to it.

Thanks for the help! What about fiberglass, do you know what kind I should use?

Hopefully some one else will give you some advice on the types of glass to use. Different types for different areas. I also used a Rot Doctor fiberglass resin when I did my rebuild. It mixes 50/50 instead of 3or4 to 1 like most other resins. It also clams to be slightly flexable(less likely to crack).

Was hoping someone else could help you with glass type. Sometimes it better to start with one type as base and then add/cover/layer with another type. Do some research through the other posts as some guys mention what they used.
