    Cabosil or wood flour?

Ok I am goin to be mounting my transom into my skeeter tomorrow night, will post pics on my thread. My question is this, when I install my transom there is a gap at the bottom of the transom and hull is cabosil strong enough to mix with the epoxy to fill this gap? also how thick of gap can I fill? also all at once or several coats? I used the cabosil to thicken my epoxy to glue the 2 boards for my transom together and it did a great job, just curious if mabey i should use woodflour for the big gap? Thanks

Wood flour is good for thickening epoxy. Cabosil or fumed silica can thicken it as well, but the main reason for the Cabosil is that its thixotropic(it resists sagging, holds its shape). I used some wood flour and the rest fumed silica for gap filling and forming fillets. Mix to the consistency of peanut butter.
Two other additives that come in handy during epoxy resto work are phenolic micro balloons which greatly aid in the sanding process, and milled fibers which are fiberglass fibers you can add to strengthen your mix(less prone to cracking).
You can fill good size gaps but I would prolly add the milled fibers for added strength.
