    Wet sanding needed?

I just purchased the polisher as recommended on this board. Before all I had was a cheap 10" buffer from Wal Mart. With that buffer I could wax it and the haze would go away, but return with one day out on the water. Gel coat is smooth with no roughness whatsoever. Would it be possible for me to compound, seal, and wax to bring my shine back to life? Or, do I still need to wet sand first?

Did you wet sand before? If so your buffer just didn't have enough speed to make the compound work for you. Try a spot with the high speed and it should be good to go

No wet sand. I did the buffing several years ago before I found this board. I buffed the top cap quite a few times to acheive this. Went thru 2 buffers and a bottle and a half of marine compound just on the top cap. Will try with high speed when pads come in.

Iwould do a test spot and let it set for a couple days.If it still has good shine(like it is still wet) Then you may be able to just compound, glaze, and wax.
