I'm looking at a boat that has a 2005 40hp johnson with a jet lower on it. I've only owned mercs in the past and was wondering about Johnson motors? Dependable? Cold natured? Low maintenance? Any info is appreciated

it will still serve you well. Will like the fuel though. A lot of my customers that run that motor blast Daffy.
They will only use more fuel because the impeller on the jet isn't as efficient as a prop, you'll make up the savings in l/u repairs!!I understand there is a ss impeller that would give a little more ommph and maybe more mph....
