When I trim my motor up it makes a crackling sound.It seems to be coming from the hydraulic steering ram area.I greased 2 fittings in this area and it still does it.Does anybody know what could be causing this.It sounds like something is definately lacking grease?
Chances are the rod that goes through the steering tube and connects the two "horns" is rusted to the tube. Good luck getting it apart to ream out the rust, pack with grease, and reassembling the system.
