    Suggestions On Polishing Milky Gelcoat

Figured this would be the best place to ask. You guys are always full of great info.
While I was deployed my Skeeter wasnt completely protected from the sun. The area at the engine ( no splash well design ) wasnt covered and the gelcoat has gotten milky and now has texture to it. Almost rough to the touch. Im guessing this is some type of oxidation.

Anyone have any ideas of what products might restore this area?

    Appreciate it.

I second that. Thank you for taking care of us. Wetsanding is the answer. Lots of work, but much simpler than I thought. Shoot me an IM if you have any questions.

I had the same thing on my Nitro, I tried some Mcguires color restor and a buffing wheel I got from Harbor Freight and WOW what a difference, removed that chalky look from the white and a deep shine to the red metalic.

Always try the least agressive procedure first. First try a polish if that doesnt work try rubbing compound and as a last resort wet sand and buff. You want to remove the least amount of gelcoat as possible and get results. The thinner the gelcoat the faster it will oxidize. On my transom the milky look was easily removed just with a little rubbing compound (by hand) and a good coat of wax. Its been 9 months ang still looks new.
