    Has been Cleared over

I Bought a boat from out of state and someone has cleared over the registration numbers. I have to replace them with my states new numbers. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove the the numbers from under the clear without making a big mess of everything? I am thinking heat gun and razor knife to trim around the edges Then I am left with the old numbers carved into the new clear coat. looks like I'm up that famous creek dont it...........lol

I'm not sure on options. You will need to use something like an x-acto blade and work blade edge along the numbers. then hopefully be able to wet sand it. Sounds like it is going to leave you wiht noticeable differences between the clearcoat where numbers are removed.
    Good luck!

I'd contact Iguana Grafix (board sponsor) and get him to make you a "sticker" for lack of a better discription with a background to match the color of your hull that would cover the old numbers.... new numbers on top of that......shouldn't be too hard....Darryl's the man

Do the decal deal, You do not want to cut into clear coat. No Way. Or take to a fiberglass shop, this would be expensive fix. Just my experienced 2 cents.
