Adding assist lift shocks to compartment lids

Looking to add lift shocks to a couple of my compartments. Mainly the rod locker and center storage compartment. I have a 1990 Stratos 175. There are no lift shocks installed now. Looking for some advice on what direction to go, where to mount, and what lbs. shocks I might need? Also, any pics of previous installations would be very helpful as well.

just purchased 5 for my 1996 zx180 skeeter. I paid $11.00 from a place in my hometown called lenords. they sell truck tool boxes, and other custom parts for trucks and trailers. Advanced Auto, has them also, along with the mounts. May have to pay a little more with the mounts. I just shoped around, found out that you need anywere from 25-40 psi on the shocks.I got 35 and they work fine. Just make sure you tell them socket ends and not blades.

I am assuming that it is one lift shock per lid. Is this the same on the rod locker as well? Where on the lid (towards the edges or middle) do you mount the shocks? Does it matter and if you put it all the way at the end will it put too much stress on the lift?
Should I look for waterproof ones as well?

I would look at someone with a 2009 Triton and use that location to mount it. Mine came without them and I did this and they worked way better than the location on my ranger. I would get 7 -10" spring for the rod lcokers.
