    finally started

Well, I finally started on my boat. It is a 1984 Ranger 370V with a Johnson GT 150. Right now I have all the carpet out and I just about have all the auto clear that someone sprayed on it scraped off. I sure wish they would not have done that. I am going to put new burgandy carpet back in. I will probally wait until next year to get the seats redone. [IMG][/IMG]

Get RemoveALLl 620, it will take off the clear coat no sanding, are you going to try to buff out the haze ? or Re Gel coat or paint top cap ?

I have just about got all the clear off now. I am just wet sanding with 2000 grit and then using a 3M glaze to get rid of the scratches then putting a heavy coat of wax down. I am going to get all this done before I lay down the carpet. I also have to replace a piston in the motor. I can't wait to get the carpet down!

I had the same thing with my 363 Ranger. Previous owner rattle canned clear on the top cap . Must of been the thing to do back in the day.

well...other than the cosmetics, she looks like she was well cared for.

You say you are gonna strip the clear...are you repainting as well?
    deck extension???

I think you will like that motor. I have the same motor on my Hydra Sport. I had a weeee bit of trouble with it at first, but after the little issues were fixed, it seems like a solid running motor. I have only used it 1/2 of a season, but other than a bit hard to start on really cold mornings ( below 40 degrees), it has runs like a champ.

    Good luck! have fun!

Sorry no progress on cosmetics but I found a 1991 Johnson 175 to replace the blown 150. I go to pick it up this Saturday.

kray, that layout is exactly like my Ranger. Looks like a fun project. A deck extension would be sweet, if your not up for it now, maybe in the future.
    good luck

    Re: finally started (ranger230v)

I would love to do an extension but I think that may be a little beyond me right now. Like you said maybe in the future. I am just hoping to have it done here in the next few weeks so I can get on the water. The 150 blew last August so I need to get on the water. I can't wait to pick up the 175 and get her bolted up. That should wake up this big old heavy boat.

    Re: finally started (kray274)

I guess I need to sell this. I have replaced the carpet, put a 1990 Johnson GT175 on it. The motor needs a fuel pump. I still need to attach the lids and get new locks and latches. I still have a little work to do in the bilge area. Anyone have an opinion on what this might be worth. I would like to know before I put it up for sale about how much I can get out of it.
