Question about flushing using fitting on back of engine

When you flush the engine using the hose connection on back of the engine ( 1991 150hp ELEIS) and the engine is not running should water be coming out the vents that are above the cavatation plate. Mine only lets water out those vents when the motor is running and the thermostats have opened up. Also does it hurt the water pump when you run the motor using the hose connection on the back of the motor? It seems the pump would not be getting any water

Re: Question about flushing using fitting on back of engine (kro)

All the info is in the owners manual.

You can run the motor at IDLE using the flusher port with no problem.
