    Tach issues

When I took the boat out for the first time this spring I noticed tack was reading higher than normal. Im running a 96 175 Johnson FastStrike. Anyhow I knocked on the tack with my knuckles and it dorpped down to normal so I take it needs replacing or could it be something else.

Keep an eye on it. What you can try is mark the spot where the pointer is and using a small screwdriver twist the selector a few times and then return it to the original spot. You may have a little corrosion on the contacts.

Have your tried the reccomendation? In the brackish air down there a quick turn of the dial may help.
