    Ouachita Aluminum Boat restore

    All,
I would like to share a little project that the brother-in-law and I have been working on.. The boat is a 1972 Ouchita - 14 footer. The motor is a 1974 Evinrude 9.9.
My neighbor bought this boat new and has used it very little. The last 6 years it has sat under the deck behind his house taking a beating from the weather. He asked if I wanted to buy it so the B-I-L and I gave him $450 (provided the motor still worked). We took it for a test drive and the 9.9 started on the third pull. We just bought a boat!!!!!
First thing we had to do was wash it with some "Deep Purple" stuff I bought a wally world. Then it took a little wet sanding and sat for a couple of days to dry out.

We taped off the stuff we didn't want to be green

We sat her up on some saw horses and prepared the paint

    Time for the first coat

Sat her out in the sun for a little dry time

Then we added some decals I bought at Cabelas, installed a 1988 fish finder, and dropped the seats from my Stratos in for a little comfort.

Had one just like it years ago. We made a lot of great memories in that old boat. Fished out of it (Bass, Bream, White perch, Catfish), Bow fished, ran trot-lines, & yo-yo's, Duck hunted, Frog hunted, snake hunted, neutra ratt hunted, and about anything else that we could get away with.

Mine had an old 9.5 hp Evinrude. But, didn't look anywhere near as nice as your's does. Nice job! I hope you get many years of fun out of it.

I must have the upgraded version cause my center seat has a livewell or can be used as storage.
