    Selecting Transom and Stringer Wood

I was looking around at my local Menard's lumber yard and saw quite a few different types of plywood available. Some are obviously not going to work well, but others might. What should I ask for? Marine-grade plywood? Would a different type work well after being coated with epoxy?

which ever wood you chose keep in mind that it needs cured/dried. you could have adhesion problems otherwise. i used a B/C grade 7 layer fir with no voids for my application.
hear is my rebuild if your interested.

Marine grade wood is made with different glue then other plywood so if a little moisture does get in it will not delaminate right away.. I believe it is chemicaly treated as well, you don't want anything to do with a pressure treated wood, there will be bonding issues..
