    Transducer Removal Process...

What method should I use to remove this factory mounted transducer. It is located inside, beside my bilge pump. It no longer works and I have bought a replacement. After I remove it, what should I use to mount the new one? Thanks for your help and I have added a pic to descibe what I am talking about.

Only way I could get mine out was to use a small wood chisel and get a little groove under it. Then put a piece of 2x4 on the edhe and smacked it with a hammer a few times and it popped right out

Heat it up and the hull area with a heat gun..You can even re use the transducer if it is still good...

That should work. The key is stir it slow to avoid air bubbles.

If you haven't done it yet I have a tip. Clean the hull where you are going to put the new one. Then take duck tape and a paper cup big enough to go around the transducer. Cut the bottom off the cup and tape the cup on the outside of the cup to the floor so it will hold the epoxy. Then put in sufficient epoxy and set the transducer in firmly. The cup just acts as a dam so the epoxy stays put and there are no air bubbles. This just prevents the epoxy from running out!

Build a dam out of plumbers putty or modeling clay, after you have cleaned the hull and scuffed the bottom of the transducer..Then take your mix and pour it in the center of your dam,and then place the puck in the mix and mash down, slowly turning side to side as you press down. Then place a heavy object on top until it sets..So for your answer, the only epoxy that will get on the sides is what comes out from when you mash it down...
