Rivets or Bolts on Recarpet????

I am to the stage where I need to decide which one to use to reattach my hinges to the lids. I can see the advantages of both ways. What did you guys do and why? Thanks, Jason

I used rivets because they work great and are easy to use. If a rivet ever loosens up, it's easy to drill out and replace with a new one.

on rivets...they are easy and look better. Much easier to put together by yourself.

i used stainless screws with washers because my lids were double glassed.

Around our shop we always use 8/32 SSteel bolts with nylon locking nuts. A real pain to install and more $$ than rivets but they are stronger an,permanent and make the next carpet job easier. On those double Ranger lids they seem to be mandatory.

guess I should have clarified when I said rivets also...on mine we used 3/4" rivets and were using an air rivet gun..not the hand one...it may be a bit hard to really get them to bind good with the double lids with the hand gun.
