    PROCRAFTMIKE>>>NEED SOME HELP

Hey bud i have another question for you.. I put my first coat of 635 epoxy resin on yesterday and let it dry intill today.. I wiped it down with acetone..then i scuffed it up with some screen tape we use to clean copper..After that i rubbed it clean again with acetone.. Let dry for about 30min.. and mixed up another coat of resin to do the 2nd coat.. Well when i was putting it on it seemed to not take like the first coat.. It seems to part and make little circles (best way i know to explain it)).. Did i do something wrong?? Did you have this happen to you? Just try to figure out what to do now..thanks mike

Remember to use less on the 2nd and after coats, because the 1st coat sealed the wood.. therefor there is not very much that can absorb the 2nd coat... Its normal and its a good sign that you sealed it good the first go round.

thanks.. i thought i may have did something wrong. I didn't go less on the second coat which might be my problem.. I sanded it down again and i am going to go less on this coat. I am suppose to sand it each coat right and use acetone to clean.. I am ready to get this bottom coat done that way i can put it in the boat and get it all put down so i can wet it out in the boat and finish it up so i can go fishing..Thanks again for the help guys i couldn't have done it with out your help..

P.s should i put the 1st coat on the top side of the wood before putting it in the boat and do the second and 3rd in the boat??

Yes you have to ruff it up after it cures, so the next can bond... once its sealed it wont let anything in... even more resin. Sounds like your doing everything right, just feel it out, but I think you got this whipped

    Re: (ragin_cajun92)

Sorry, I have been gone all weekend. What I normally do, if the resin is not cured yet (less than 24 hrs.), I normally just wipe it down with acetone and add a second coat. If it is longer than that, then I wipe it down with acetone, scuff it up good, wipe it down again and add the next layer.

It sounds like you are doing everything right. What I try to do, is seal every piece of wood I am using with at least 1 coat of resin, add a second coat after it sets up and assemble my pieces and add another coat after it sets up. I think it will last much longer than assembling everything first and then treating it. Also, I try to assemble the pieces while the 2nd coat of resin is still wet, that way the resin acts like a sealer and glue at the same time. This might be overkill, but I only want to be doing this once.
