    Merc lower unit

What is the best way to remove what looks like oxidation on the lower unit. It starts at about the water line and goes down bout 6-8 inches. It's a cloudy discoloration that almost seems it can be cleaned off. It's on the boat that I'm purchasing and when I get the boat I want to clean it up. Thanks

You might try Color Back by Turtle Wax. It works great.

its a lime product. try lemon juice. it that work fast enough ok. the quickest way is to use brick cleaner [muratic acid] follow the instructions and work down wind. i have to use it every year on the boat and motor. salt fishermen use it on the al fishing boat as well.

CLR Cleaner. (Calcium, Lime, and Rust) buy it at just about any store in the cleaning products section

Fiddlefarter , you da man!. CLR worked like a dream. What a difference. The guy I bought the boat from wasn't to concerned about looks and didn't wipe her down every time out. But you can't tell anymore! CLR took all of the residue and water spots right off!
