I am about to buy a 1989 Stratos 201 boat. I have found one for a pretty good deal. It has a new engine on it and nice trailer. The reason that I am getting a good deal on it is because it has had some fire damage. (The boat's fiberglass, motor and trailer were NOT damaged). The things that were damaged include:
-the 2 gas tanks
-the wiring for the fuel pump, bilge pump
-the 2 control wires that go into the engine
-batteries will need to be replaced
-will need new carpet
The back desk 's structure was not damaged.
I need some info on how to remove or get access to under this back deck so that I can replace these 2 tanks, the batteries, and do some minimal wiring. Will the entire deck need to be removed? The previous owner told me that there was some line in the center of the deck that needs to be cut in order to get access to any of this. Anyone familiar with this?
Where can I find some wiring diagrams for this and where could I find 2 new tanks. What size are these? The bench seat also has a melted area and I would like to replace this. Anyone have any recommendation of where to get a nice one for cheap. I priced them from basspro and a good one is around $400.
ANY advise would be greatly appreciated to help me restore the items that were damaged in the fire. I will eventually have to replace the carpet as well. I have never done this so any advise, tips, places to buy, or instructions would help.
Thanks
