    bass cat carpet colors

first off, hi to everybody. first post on the board. lots of great information for the taking here. currently working over an 1986 winner. right now i've got all the carpet off and a big portion of the glue stripped. planning to take advantage of the 10% off that bass cat parts has going on right now. at the moment i'm struggling with my choice of color. the boat has a dark red in it before and it looked good. i'm figuring on going ahead with the dark red again. the bass cat site shows the "heritage" and the "corona" colors to be relatively close but when you see them in the color palet at the top of the page the one red is much more bright. i'm hoping that somebody who's had either carpet can input as to the actual colors.

Good lookin' old boat. If that's an XR2 on the back, you're gonna love it. They run good
    for their size.

Re: bass cat carpet colors (luvmymerc)

it is the xr2. didn't see a lot of run time from the 2 previous owners. the boat had an 86 motor on it to begin with. story i got was something happened and the motor popped under warranty. it was pulled and this 87 was put on. from there the guy lost interest in the fishing. it sat and then was sold to the guy i got it from. that guy didn't realize what he was getting into so it didn't get taken out much. i'd be surprised if the boat was run much more then 30mph by the last owner. i was lucky enough to get all the original paperwork for the boat, motor and everything that's been added to it. even got the original sale note from the dealer showing the added options and price.

back to the carpet, anybody know how long bass cat's 10% off will last? i surely don't wanna goof up and miss the discount. i tried using the bass cat boat side of the site hoping to see a boat with the color carpets i had in mind but the pictures don't say anything about the colors. red was my initial thought but somebody else has mentioned a sand color. any thoughts on a sand color with this boat?

dont know much about the colors you have mentioned but from boats that i have seen..i personally think that red is a bit tacky. in meaning this, i just like a "homey" feeling when i am on my boat. i really think the sand color carpet would look the best considering you got a simliar color on the boat also...just my .02 cents

JMO, but I think a grey colored carpet would look sharp in that boat.

Re: bass cat carpet colors (ProcraftMike)

I brought both colors in for my restore job on my 481vs

the corona carpet looks much better on the web page than in person...it is very drab looking, almost like a faded wine color.... I didnt like it

I think the heritage is the way to go, It is a deep color, and really has a nice look to it...and will give you different looks in different light levels...I dont think gray is the way to go w your color scheme...as it will not bring any colors out on your boat whatsoever....but that is just my opinion..

This is the heritage from BassCat

Re: bass cat carpet colors (igs65)

i'm not a big red fan either. least not a bright fire red. i don't think a darker red would look bad in the boat. the flake in the boat is mostly a silver/light gold, with a little bit of copper flake in it. the heritage is a little better looking in those couple pictures then on the website. i'm not sure what the deal is with the little color palet at the top of the page. would you say the corona leans more towards a purple color? i agree i'm not sure grey would do good with the boat. the original seats had grey in the middle of them so i had em re-upholstered as close to original as the guy could get. i'm just struggling to picture the boat done out in grey carpet too. if anything the "true mica mist" i don't think would look bad. if it looks anything like the picture on the web.

I'm gonna vote you go with a sand/ tan color. Granted, it's not my boat, but if it were it'd have tan in it. Just my opinion.

Good lookin' boat by the way! And you'll love the BassCat carpet, whichever color. It's good stuff.

    Nate,
If you write Basscat they will send you a color sample of all the colors. Or I have the sample kit I can send you if you like. Either way let me know.

Re: bass cat carpet colors (Tom B)

truth be told, i went with the heritage red. the thought of a grape/ purplish color worried me. i thought about waiting till they came back from holiday to get samples but was more afraid of losing the 10%off. i know the boat had red in it and i liked the red in it. the boat's all stripped and cleaned waiting in the garage for the carpet to arrive. i'm pretty sure the boat had a sand/ tan color in it originally as i found some sand/tan colored carpet under the consoles when i was cleaning. i don't think it'll be bad. the pictures don't do the boat justice as it's been wet sanded, polished, seats redone, i just cut in a recessed foot pedal, the deck extension is put together waiting to be sealed, and then carpet the whole rig. guess i'm gonna have to post more pics before long.

tomb - you made me go pull out the packet of paperwork....... $14,077 off the lot in 86.

    Darryl,

I have almost the same boat as you and I plan to recarpet in the near future. What oz. carpet did you use? I want to make sure I don't use carpet that is too thick.

igs65.... just wanted to say thanks. the carpet showed up last night and you were right about the color. its a rich, pretty red. not a flashy red just a nice looking color. i admit i'm still curious what the tan color would've looked like but i'm happy with what i've got. i started cutting last night. only got a couple hours to work on it last night so the front deck is cut up and waiting to be glued. just wanted to say thanks again. keep an eye out for some pictures of the work.

Re: bass cat carpet colors (bbnate804)

I just recarpeted my Winner and you will have to do a lot a Shaving on the Edges of your Lids with the 24 oz carpet. I bought the original wt. of 20 oz. and I can bearly get my lids to open. That is if yours are the Aluminum lids like mine. I had Dk. Blue in my boat and it was Hot as Heck and I went back with the Beige and WOW what a Difference.Good Luck with the DK Red.

Re: bass cat carpet colors (oakhillhoss)

thanks for the heads up. the lids on my winner are fiberglass and wood. in all honesty i'm prob still gonna have some decent gaps on my hatches even with the 24oz carpet. the lids just aren't tight at all. i'm kinda leary of the red and the summer heat but i'll just have to wait and see what happens.
