I am looking to re-carpet my boat. I was wondering if there is any good rule of thumb when purchasing. I just don't want to end up short but in the same respect have way to much. My boat is 17ft. I know you you probably get these question all the time so I apologize. Also any recommendation on good quality carpet and where to buy.

I think I purchased 25' of carpeting when I did my 17' boat. Each boat is going to be a little different, depending upon the layout. You should have some left over, but it is better than coming up short.

You might also check: http://www.basscat.com They have a very high-quality carpet, and it sells for $6/foot. Total cost, glue and everything, was less than $200.

I did my 17 footer with 25 feet of carpet, and have enough left for my trailer bunks and inside fenders (now I only need the time to get it installed! ). The boat was not hard, just time consuming. I'm SUPER-crazy anal though, and someone who's not quite as picky could probably do it a little faster. Just remember to measure twice and cut once. Good luck with the project!

I bought a 25' roll from Bassboat Carpets when I did my 18" Ranger this spring. I had extra, but I wanted to have it on hand. Give them a call, they'll tell you what you need.
