    Transom Help (kinda long)

Was cleaning the boat today and decided to take off the back plastic coverings where the motor mounts to the transom to really clean and found a gap, it looks like at one point there was a silicone seal around the gap but now in that gap was a black like foam substance that is WET. I pushed around on the transom edges that were exponsed and they were not mussy, did the motor movement test and the transom seems fine, but I am concerned and noticed yesterday that if u had the motor tilted way up, when you tilted you could feel a little jerky and wobble when u were setting on the boat is this normal?

I just had the boat in a tournament yesterday and then washed it today so I am wondering what this black foamy stuff is? why it is wet? and am concerned am I trouble? Then finally what do I do to fix it/prevent damage

    Call ranger, but

I had the same thing on my 520. They put the foam in there and then over the top of it put soem kind of black tar waterproof tape. My tape was messed up and they sent me some more. I used the tape over the foam and also some silicone as a just in case.

    Re: Transom Help (98rangerdvs)

I really wouldn't worry about it. It's got the pultruded transom in it that they use in their new boats today. I held some of that stuff they use to make the transom and stringer system and it was some tough chit.

    Re: Transom Help (98rangerdvs)

I can understand your concern but your transom is not made of wood and when they place the cap onto the hull they use some type of sealant to make sure there is a tight seal between the cap and hull. You have a black molding on top of your transom and underneath is some type of sealant and tape looking material. It will dry out. You can try to call Tim Hoak in the customer service department and he will be able to explain it in more detail.

I hear ya man. Everytime I take my skeeter out I check the transom before and after I go out in it. Nothing ruins your day than knowing you have a bad transom.
