Painting Vinyl?

Instead of re-upholstering my interior. I was thinking about maby using a vinyl paint? Is that even possible? The material is in good shape, I just need to replace the wood inside the seat. The seats have gotten a few brown spots on them from this winter when the cover held enough water to sag down and touch the seat. I have tried every kind of cleaner from stain remover to vinyl soap and I cannot get it out. Has anyone ever tried painting vinyl seats or is it even possible? Thanks for any help.

There are actual vinyl dyes out there specifically designed for changing the color of vinyl upholstery. I googled "vinyl upholstery dye" and got a bunch of hits for DIY kits.

Thank you for the tip. I did check locally and a few places said they carry the dye in spray cans so i'll give it a try.

Have used the spray dye purchased at a local body shop jobber, and it will for sure dye the soft and hard(plastic dash,etc.) materials. However I do not Know how durable and how resistant to weather and U.V. Guess it's worth a shot no more than the spray costs.
