Help With Stringer question

Does this look like what i think it is? These are pictures of the top of the stringer where the deck meets the flooring. It is just behind the seat area where the gas tank and live wells are located.

I noticed last year the florring making a little creaking noise in rough water, so i finally got the bore scope from work and went in through the drain just in front of the seating area.

If it is the stringers coming loose from the decking is there anything i can do about it? Besides taking it to the shop? I getting ready to redo the carpet, Gauges and steering. I don't want to do all of this if it is a waste of time?

The boat is a 96 Viper Cobra 201 DC. Everything else in the boat is in good shape.

I hate to get to long winded, but if it is a major repair anyone know what it would cost to get it fixed? I love this boat, Huge front deck, and great performance!

Re: Help With Stringer question (FishMoore)

My thoughts...it looks like the used putty when they set the deck on the boat. alot of companies use a pumpable putty then set the deck and it firms up the floors in spots that they do not set down on top of the stringers perfect.... does that look like what you think it is??????? If you look thru the drain in the floor what is the runs???? taking a guess

Re: Help With Stringer question (Rollo331)

The runs are whatever they used to seal the floor edge where they cut the drain hole.

I was thinking tht the lighter area may be the glass coming loose from the top of the stringers?
Maybe the top of the stringer is getting compressed and letting the flooring move a litlle.

Accessibility? To reattach, you'll need enough room to remove excess bonding putty at top of string to floor joint and underlay with mat/woven combo in this upper corner. It may be possible to access from rear compartment, removal of storage liner,or addition of deck hatch. The lighter area, appears to be delaminated, hopefully not from rot! Good Luck!

Re: Help With Stringer question (AMS BOATS)

I don't think there is any way to access the area through the back of the boat. The livewells and fuel tank are right above the area where the pictures were taken.
I think if i do anything, i will have to cut open the flooring and work on the repair from the front side.
The only problem with that, i will have to patch the opening in the flooring in front of the seats. I wonder is a ski storage hatch would work for the opening i would have to cut it open?

The problem with ski lockers is having enough support around the edges and sealing them(ski boats are notorious for rot/soft around them).I would avoid splicing floor in this area if possible, your stepping off rear deck at this spot.If you dont have any choice-I would cut stringer to stringer so I would be able to resupport 2 of the 4 edges, then underlay front and rear.
