    Minor Update question

I have a 98 519 dvs ranger and the previous owners, I am the 3rd, don't seem to be as picky as I am about making/keeping it looking really clean and shinny. Anyway the dash is the wood grain type and is starting to show some sun wear. I am wondering if there is any thing that can be done to help restore it, or if it is to far gone and nothing can be done with it?

If it can't be restored does anyone make and over lay kit, like the ones they put in cars that are carbon fiber or brushed aluminum, to just dress it up with out actually have to remove all of the guages and switches to replace them?

    thanx

Unfortunately, that's your answer. If the panels are flat, you can use all kinds of stuff. I had aluminum made for a dash once. I had the aluminum cut to fit then I scuffed it in a uniform pattern with scotch brite pads and clear coated it. It wasn't the prettiest thing ever made but it looked decent and will never degrade. Just an idea They sell all kinds of plastics and carbon fiber that you can use as well. They just require more upkeep.

Has anyone else done this. If I could make a template to fit AROUND the gauges, switches etc without having to remove them??

    Thanx..

I'm afraid it's going to be much easier to make a template by removing the helm, the gauges and switches and laying a piece of craft paper on there or something similar to make your template. That's what I'd do anyway. Have you tried contacting Ranger?

No haven't tried Ranger yet. Figure they would be the most expensive so I would call them last since I am sure I can buy a replacement dash from them.
