In my business, I use acetone or laquer thinner. I always apply in a hidden area first to make sure I don't have any color change. I NEVER saturate the carpet, but get a clean cloth damp and rub to remove glue. I may have to do this repeatidly*sp. Also, I make sure that I'm outdoors, because the solvents are flammable.
If someone uses this method, it's VERY important to use as little solvent as possible. Strong solvents will melt some plastics if used generously.
Dish washing liquid works well for dirt/mud.

Lighter fluid is what I've seen my brother who's a carpet installer use.
When I did carpet we used Naptha.
I got it all out but it did take my glue off the bottom, so i had to reglue it. what a pain in the arse for one mess up...wont do that again![]()

Glad you got it repaired..........what did you use and what type glue was it?
Chuck,
i used outdoor marine carpet glue, but it was around the edges and the glue popped up. I used goof off to get the glue off the carpet and then it soaked through, it did work really well though. Then i just used contact cement in the spray can and in the can itself and spread it around. Seems to be holding really well. I should have pictures up by this afternoon for everyone to see![]()
