I am getting ready to redo the deck of my 1984 Tracker its a 16' boat I was thinking 5 yards of 6' wide would do 15x6' or should i get 6 yards?
anyone used those guys on ebay who sell for about 14 a yard for 20% premium marine carpeting?

I got mine from BassBoatCarpets.com. I got 6X20 for $175 shipped to my door for 20 oz. This included a carpet knife and instructions on how to install. Great people to work with. This will also give you extra in case you mess up or to use in storage compartments.
This is the correct web site http://www.bassboatcarpets.com.
check out bass cat site, i got my carpet there. as far quanity, better to have to much than not enough.
i have an 89 Bass Tracker tx-17 and it took me 6'x25' from bassboatcarpets.com
great place. 6'x25' for $175 shipped, with razors, knifes, and instructions

Wow 25' of carpet for a 17' boat?
You must have carpeted everything. My boat is 16' and is only about 3 feet wide at the bow so I figured what I took off there could be pieced together to carpet inside the compartments. I might order 20' Still thought I could get by for more around $100 for everything.
yeah, i got 6x25 and then had to order another 5' so the floor could all be 1 piece. i should add that the deck overlaps the floor in 1 spot, and the tracker also has the walls carpeted. expect pics soon.

The carpet needs to be folded over in several spots so what you cut out of the deck carpet, probably won't fit the lid. You'll need to cut that out of another area. Cutting odd shapes out of other areas of the new carpet leaves odd shapes... shapes that will require wasted left over carpeting.
I'm re-carpeting my 17' Tracker and I bought 12' just for the front deck. This was a little over kill (I'd guess that I could have done it with 9') but with 3 lids it's better to error on having too much.
Since you plan on DIY, try buying at Lowes, They sell marine carpet and adhesive, as well as all the tools. I purchased 6X15, adhesive, and tools for less than $100.00 and saved on shipping.
the "outdoor adhesive" that Lowe's sells (its what i used) is great for the large spots, but i tried using it on the smaller parts (like folding over the lids, etc) and it wasnt the best.
I got some contact cement from Lowes and that has worked wonders for the smaller detail pieces. Its not as hard to use as everyone says.
- Just glue the 2 pieces (i used the gel contact cement),
- wait 15min,
- then put the 2 together and you can still move them around if needed.

Keep in mind also that all of the carpet needs to be laid in the same direction. If not, it will look like it is different colors. Therefore there is a lot of pieces left over. I bought the 6X25 and I also made a deck extension and did not have enough to carpet my rod box.
