    trim motor stop working

    what do I do now if I hit the button the gas guage jumps when the key is off? could the motor be cook and if so can I replace just the motor or the whole unit 1991 Johnson Fastrike GLEI serial # 02956027

    Al you're going from bad to worse. I'll ask anyway but pretty much know the answer, swap relays? Try different switches on the motor? Disconnect the trim harness from the console and try just the motor trim station?

    I swapped relays no difference it makes a high pitch whine not a click like my old merc did all 3 switches don't work I'll try disconnecting the harness next ok it isn't looking good is it

    my bud is coming over on tues and he will check things out for me it's good to have freinds like him and you guys here in BBC thanks for the imput another questions is can I change just the motor on my boat or isit the whole unit that has to be changed

    thanks for the info but my bud looked at it quick today and said the motor is good didn't have time but tomorrow will check into the switches and relays will keep you posted

    check all the grounds by the starter.. if you have the red wire cover by the starter under that is the ground for the tilt/trim.. could b loose

    They just need the model #! The part # for the motor is 434495.

    They changed it Dan new # 5005374. If you have an Arco distributor near by get it from them and save some $$ they have a 1 year warranty.

    it'll be coming from a johnson dealer hope the part number is the same that's what I told him to get I also gave him the year and model number soi he should be alright

    Just trying to help. Equivalent Parts: 0438529,5005374 if you click on the part in the schematic it will show you the above part numbers. They took away the where used portion that was a very good tool. If it is still there it is well hidden.

    just ordered a new motor from EMS Global heard good things about them and have a 1 yr warranty should be here monday

    installed thew new motor and put new relays in as well still no go found it finally broken ground wire after all that but it's ok because the old motor was getting tired anyway new goes up and down like lightning and quiet too
