    Performance Advice

I have a 1995 Sprint 286 Pro Tournament (Single Console) with a 175hp Evinrude Intruder. I am current running a Renegade 4 blade prop, 13.5 x 25. The motor sits on a 6 inch manual jackplate. I do not currently have the measurements for prop-pad etc., but am heading back down to get those asap. At WOT I peak at about 62-63, but the motors turns high at 6100rpm. Holeshot is also sluggish. What sort of prop/general setup would you recommend? I'm not comfortable with the motor running in that high RPM range at WOT, would like to get it back down to a more reasonable number and improve performance.

I'm not a huge fan of the Renegade. I would try a 24p Raker or better yet a 24p Razor 3 (Mark over on the props page sells them and is a great guy to do biz with). Typically, going down in pitch would increase your rpms (not what you want) BUT the 25p Renegade that I had would turn 200 rpms more than my 24p Raker (this is b/c the Gade has a smaller blade diameter). With that motor, you want to be at 5800-5900 WOT. I would not run it much over 6000 for very long.

Exactly my thoughts, upper 5000's preferably. I've only had it over 6000 for brief periods to see what the WOT specs were. I'll try and get some jackplate measurements as well for the current setting.
