    team format for tournaments

Just curious if any clubs use a team format to fish club tournaments, if so how do you decide who gets to go to the qualifiers, can a person still fish a tour. alone ? how many fish per boat ? etc.

The Kanawha River Bassmasters fished as a team format. THe top 3 teams would move on to the qualifer.

We had a partner and was able to fish alone if for some reason the partne didn't make it. Are weight was always totaled together and we had a 6 fish limit per boat.

It really wasn't a bad setup and was a good club to fish with, but I didn't like that they used total weight for the season to decide who moves on. I lthink I like the points system better.

I am in Kanawha River B*******s we use a points system and have a five fish limit because we have some members that fish alone or there partner couldn't make it. In the event there partner couldn't make it both members got points. Top six goes to the qualifier. Top three would be boater spots 4-6 non boater unless one of the top three couldn't be a boater the next boater 4-6 would take a boaters spot. Kind of confusing but different clubs do things differently. Just have to find a club that does things how you like and has a good group of guys in it

Thanks for getting back to me, looking at different ways to score points for a tournament. So if i understand you correctly you have a 5 fish limit PER boat, not per man. That is something i would like to see, to help promote fishing with a partner, as when i joined the club i'm in i had to join with a partner, but we score points as individuals to get to the qaulifiers.

Yes five fish limit per boat. So the solo guys fisherman can keep 5 and keep fishing. Buddy system when fishing with a partner. I've fished in clubs that were non buddy and you fished against the person/buddy in your boat. I didn't care for that format. I enjoy the club I am in and hope we stay together for many more years.

    1st 30 points
    2nd 20 points
    3rd 18 points
    4th 16 points
    5th 14 points
etc -2 points for each place after 2nd place
    zero fish 5 points
    Lunker gets 5 point bonus.

We also do 10 dollars a boat for first place and a dollar from each member from that goes to the club. For boaters in the Qualifier/State Championship or our Fall Classic we have. We all voted on the amount and this year we held some open tournaments to raise money for the club.
