heading up that way first weekend of june. what to expect? going to stay fri - mon. we went 2 years ago, but the lake was 4 feet high or so. caught some good ones, but wasnt really what i expect to see this time. had to cancel last years, because apparently there was a fish kill?

Not sure about a fish kill, but you will be looking at the end of the post spawn and early summer patterns. I love Stonewall in the summer with Carolina Rigs, 16-20' crankbaits, and a good morning top water bite. I usually focus on the deeper banks 12-18' and rock bluffs. I always catch a good one on the wall next to the lodge it seems like in the morning on a buzzbait.

Hey Josh, put in at the Vandalia ramp ( dont no if thats correct spelling ) go left out of there, motor to the boey, this area is no wake so no pleasure boats to pizz you off. Fish the left hand bank, it dont look like much but it is a rocky bank that always holds good fish. I have caught several 4 to 5lb fish off that bank from june threw fall. At the end of the bank is a little cove or cut fish it also, good spot. Stay out a good ways on the bank, so your lure is hitting about 5 or 6' from the bank. After that anywhere up in there is also good, its all deep water that we have caught alot of good fish from. I use a little bit of everything from senko, crankbaits, but mainly use plastics like brush hogs in watermelon red to lizards in greenpumkin. I do really well on lizards in the summer time there. I night fish this area mainly and do really well. Good luck and post some pics
we launched at vandalia last time and did pretty good right on the rocky bank at the ramp. first evening, we never even turned on the big motor. bet the whole lake looks completely different.. that "hump" across the lake from the ramp was under about 3' of water when we were last there!

Fished today, water was dirtier by the dam and above the marina. Water temperature was 70-74* caught 8 total biggest was 4-7#. Caught them Carolina rigging and cranking med-deep cranks in 10-16'.

Surface temp is 85*-88*!!!
I fished today for almost 5 hours this afternoon and evening and caught a total of 21 keepers, most were 12 1/2"-13 1/4" (Looks like there was a strong spawn 2 years ago). Biggest was a long and lanky spawned out 17"er.
Most of them came out of 12'-16' of water around points and shoals. Caught them using Strike King 6XD crankbaits and a few on a Rico popper over the same spots once the sun went down!!!
Was a very fun evening if you prefer quantity over quality.

sounds like fun. can wait to give it a shot tomorrow evening, through monday. I dont throw alot of cranks, do you think plastics would have caught them as well?
