87 GT 150 timing cam adjustment

I found a thread searching about adjusting the timing cam on a older Johnson. I wanted to do it today, but of course I know cannot find that thread for the life of me.

I went ahead and did what I remembered. I put on the clear hose on the roller (mine was missing) and I adjusted the cam by loosening the nut and turning the adjustment knob till it touched the roller for the throttle linkage. There are 2 lines on the cam, 1 shorter then the other. The first line is on top of my roller. Is this correct or does the roller need to be between the 2 lines on the cam?

Correct, the shorter mark should touch the roller. Make sure you did this with the throttle cable disconnected.

Oh I didn't disconnect the throttle cable. I'll do that then re-adjust. Thanks ChampioNman!
