I have a 2000 Johnson 175 and I would like to see what can be done to make it run faster the motor is on a 2000 Stratos 283 w/o jack plate and the motor has a 23 p Lazer II prop. on it at 5200 rpm's the boat runs 59 mph that is by GPS and that is top speed.
So looking for some help with this matter...

jack plate is the best bang for your buck from what I hear. And the motor will be up higher so youll be able to get into all those secret shallow water spots

The Lazer is part of the problem. Find someone with a 115/125 Merc and sell it to them. thos are the only motors those things work well on.
Go to the set-ups by Todd forum. C&O are masters at setting up Stratos boats
Don't want to hijack, but would also like to hear the ad-ons just for the motor, I have got my champion setup to a tee, but is there anything additional you can do to the motor?

Yes the motor was rebuilt last summer and it is as big as it can go which means it's 30 over that is all I know about it...
get you a jack plate 4 to 6 in off set--- buy a good old style raker 24 raise the motor 2 3/4 below the pad take all the crap you dont use out of the boatand if you motor was bult and set up right you should see 62 to 63.8 mph gps with no problem.
Ive been running a javelin 389t with a 150hp 14 years and this is thebest setup and will run 61 with 35 galons fuel and more tackle that pro bass shop will run 61.8 at 5400 rpm.
