I have a bad 2003 lower unit on a 200 H.O. Evinrude. I've been waiting for three weeks on the lower unit to get in and still no lower unit. Don't care to bash dealer just BPR on this one. My dealer said the rep found one, but it want be painted. Does this sound right???? I would think they would have tons wanting to go on something. What's going on here????? Thanks

What happened to your gearcase?
There are no painted Lightning gearcases available at this moment, this could be due to alot of different reasons.
The dealer should have called BRP and he would have been told there are unpainted cases available, I dont think the problem is BRP in this instance.
We keep a Painted Gearcase in stock this time of year so our customers dont have to wait.
My dealer does have one of the non-painted on the way.......... I carried the motor in for some temp issues origionaly. Water pump I thought. Water pump looked good but while dealer had unit down I told them to change the gearcase oil. The unit had a small amount of water. It had a leak somewhere in the unit wouldn't hold pressure. They called BPR and they said they would send a new lightning gearcase. So that's where I'm at on the lower unit. I'm still concerned about the temp issues though. Motor had done this several times. Goes off on temp alarm at low RPMS. Mainly from idle to 2k . The water pressure comes out real slow at times then it will work fine for weeks. Then all of a sudden it pops up again. I've tried flushing but I guess I have a thermostat going bad or trash in the poppet, something going on.

The dealer should have called BRP when the gearcase didn't show up in a couple of days, he would have been told they were on back order and there are unpainted gearcases available.
As to the HOT light at low speeds, have the dealer pull the codes and see what is getting hot, the motor or the EMM.
