    Good two days of fishing

Feels good to finally be on the water, and I'm doing fairly good at making up for lost time. Got out for 3 hours last night at Greenfield State park, wind was whipping as if we were in a storm the entire time, and I managed to get 12, with 2 smallies mixed in. Nothing huge, I think the biggest was 2 lbs. My buddy only got 2.

Went out to another lake this morning, and my buddy pulled the first fish, just shy of 3 lbs. I caught my first one shortly after, maybe 2 1/4 pounds, and we traded fish for fish through 4 fish. Then I just started finding them, he ended the day with 4 fish, and I caught 17. Also had the biggest, 3 lbs 13 oz. Caught about a dozen at 2 lbs, smallest for me was about 1.5 lbs. Just an awesome morning. Some on beds, some just holding tight to cover, but never actually sat on top of the beds pitching non stop.

    Here's my 3-13.

It's been tough for me and my buddy the past couple of days, because he's not catching them, and I'm doing everything I can to help him out. He hurt his shoulder bad at the skate park this week, so he had to take breaks often to rest it, his hooksets were not as strong as they normally are as well. I tried to just give him the front end, but he couldn't cast from an angle, which is what he had to be sitting at to work the trolling motor and cast, so he went back to the back of the boat.

Also noticed he was using a mop jig with a Zoom Super Chunk trailer to my regular football jig and super chunk junior trailer. Once I got him switched over, he started hitting them a bit more often, but then couldn't get a bite. I was pointing out spots and beds all day, giving him 5+ spots to hit first right in a row, and nothing. Then I would throw in and catch one. Only thing we were doing different at that point was that I used smelly jelly and he wasn't, and refused to. Oh well, I still had a fantastic day!

Nope, and hardly anyone fishes there either. (You guys best stay off MY lake! )

Saturday was the first time in over a year that there was some other person fishing there while I was there. About an hour after I got there, another bass rig showed up and left when we did.

Kind of sucks that I had to leave, I was still hammering them off the trees but the TM batteries quit out on me.

We would pull out of the ramp and park in the ditch to the left but that was quite a few years ago. Good Largies in there. That was the last place my dad and I went fishing together. We almost made it 2 years ago but he broke his hip the week before. We'll be trying again this summer.

Very good largies in there. Smallmouth are good when I can get them, but don't usually target them specifically. The largies are too good to pass up.

Favorite spot is the HUGE boulder about a foot under the surface around the back corner. Pulled two 4+ pound largies off of it on the same day years ago in my Jon Boat. Had another good one off of it the same day that pic was taken, but it was a hell of a long cast and I had a terrible hookset, and lost the fish.

Bummer to hear about the bad luck with your Dad the last time you tried to go. Whenever you plan on going again, let me know and I'll meet you guys out there.
