    200 vindicator help needed

Bought new to me 96 stratos 295 pxl with 96 200 vindicator starts and idles great but low rpm(1500-3000) range when in gear dies if I floor it it runs like a scalded ape(72.8 gps) I know boat set up 7 yrs after man died and left at dealership they recently flushed tank, replaced fuel lines, rebuilt carbs, and did tune up.I found an electric auto fuel pump in line and wonder if it may be making to much fuel pressure or what it is driving me crazy all plugs have great color and it doesn't act as if it is loading up no sputter just dies like key was cut off but starts back up easily. Please give me any help possible thanks,Tony Almost forgot a few times it stayed running while around 1500 rpm I gunned it and it wouldnt take gas stayed at same rpm sometimes skipping a beat and tried primer to only bog it down.

Link and Sync Probably was not done properly or not at all after carb rebuild!!!!

There is a fine line between \"FISHING\" and just standing in the boat going through the motions!!!

Sounds like a sync n link issue but that electric fuel pump in the mix compounds things as you have constant pressure being applied. You are supplying constant pressure to a vacuum drawn system unless you have bypassed your VRO/OMS pump.

No it still has all of the vro\oms hooked up championman I wondered about this and dealership said they put new vro fuel pump on it since it sat up so long so I guess electric pump needs to go.Could this possibly be the root of my problem and also should there be a slight air gap between cam and roller when link and sync is done mine has no gap I always thought it needed small gap to let timing start advancement before throttle. Thanks for your help Champion

Ok took electric fuel pump out today and tried with same results so dug a lil further and found timer base was sticking unless jammed to wot otherwise it wasnt moving just depress spring in timer base arm rod so my question now is since it sat up so long is it possible grease just hardened up and making it sticky can I possibly remove flywheel and clean timer base and use fresh grease on it or do I need to replace timer base.

That is the path I would follow. Looks like you are on it.
