Question about 1997 Johnson 200 Ocean Runner

This just started happening recently. When I hook up the muffs to the engine and run the motor on the hose, water is coming from the pee hole and where the hose adapter connection is at the same time. It does this also when I'm out running the boat also. This never used to happen and nothing out of the ordinary happened, is this something to be worried about? When the motor is on the muffs and running I've tried to put on the hose connection to see if it is jammed open but it still just flows out. It does not just leak out, it is a very strong steady stream.

Engine runs great just seems weird that water is coming out of both while running when it used to not. -thanks

They are one in the same on your motor. To use the back flush port you unscrew the tell tale port and retaining nut to allow your hose to screw into the flushing port. When done flushing you re-install the tell tale and the nut and put it back on the port. Should only come out the tell tale unless one of the larger hoses came off the back of the block but unlikely unless you popped a belly pan.

    Thanks ChampioNman,
My hose connection is just spring loaded connection that I pop on. Theres no water that comes through until i pop it onto the motor. I don't have to screw the hose onto the flush port.

Sorry for my ignorance, I just got this boat and motor a year ago and this just started happening so I was a little concerned.

I guess I am the ignorant one here,, are you saying you have a quick connect fitting where you would normally screw in a hose?

Yes...a quick connect. Screw the connection on to the hose and then push that on to the motor to flush.

Ah,, that would be an issue. The normal flow from the flushing port allows H20 to flow freely out of that fitting to show that you have good water flow from the block and shouldn't be inhibited.

So now i'm confused...should i NOT be getting water out of the pee hole and the flush port at the same time? The pee hole is on the side of the flush port. I used to only get water out of the pee hole now I get a steady stream out of both at the same time. it just seems like the flush port is stuck open or something and water just streams out and pees while running the motor is running on the muffs.

Re: Question about 1997 Johnson 200 Ocean Runner (BonusCup)

Your flush port has both a water inlet and the discharge tell tale fitting. If it has been modified to accept a quick connect then there is the issue. You should only have the nut and the discharge passage installed, with the O rings needed. You can look at http://www.shop.evinrude.com and select your model number and select cylinder and crankcase and look at Item 62 for the correct picture.
